
It is always best to pay any debts you truly owe. Even if you are successful in having the listing of a debt removed from your credit report, you still owe the debt and any accruing interest and penalties (subject to your state’s applicable statute of limitations).
If you owe a debt you can not pay, you may be able to negotiate a settlement, or may be eligible for bankruptcy. Try to avoid these situations whenever possible. Otherwise you may find that you need credit repair help.
